Audition for 15 Pittsburgh-region theatre companies and be part of bringing a one-act play to life for the very first time! There are more than 60 (non-Equity) roles available. Actors of all types and experience levels are needed. Our plays range from over-the-top farce to incredibly dark drama. There's something for everyone! Actors of all ages, sizes, races, ethnicities, genders, abilities, and sexual orientations are actively encouraged to audition.

Audition times are available between 10am and 3pm both days.  Actors should prepare a 2-minute monologue.  Sides and cold-readings will not be available.  

Location

Auditions will be held at the Genesius Theater at Duquesne University located at 1225 Seitz Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15282.

Locust Garage— park on the 7th level, toward the rear, where you can exit and simply walk across the street to the Genesius Theater.

Compensation

Actors selected to participate in the mainstage festival will be given an honorarium of $50, a Festival Pass that will allow them to see all shows in the Festival for free, and 5 half-price tickets for family and friends.  

Rehearsal and Performance Details

Rehearsals will be held in various locations around the greater Pittsburgh area. Rehearsal places and times will be determined by the producing companies. Producing companies for this year’s Festival include: The Bobcat Players, Play On Words Podcast, The Heritage Players, Jesters Guild, McKeesport Little Theater, Prime Stage Theatre, R-ACT Theatre Productions, Stray Cat Theatre, The South Hills Players, River Front Theater Company, The Summer Company, The Duquesne University Red Masquers, Iron Horse Theatre Company, Pittsburgh Savoyards, and Community Theatre Players of Ben Avon. You will see these rehearsal locations when you register to audition; please indicate any to which you do not wish to travel. All tech rehearsals and performances will take place at the Genesius Theater at Duquesne University, located at 1225 Seitz Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15282.

Thursdays-Sundays, August 21- September 21

When you register to audition, you will be asked to indicate any dates that will not work for you.

The Genesius Theater is wheelchair accessible. PNWF also welcomes all visitors with assistance dogs including guide dogs for the blind and visually impaired, hearing dogs for the deaf and hard of hearing, and working or service dogs for people with disabilities other than those related to vision or hearing. Assistance dogs should always be on a leash or in a harness.

Tips for Success

1.) Memorize your monologue.

2.) Time your monologue. You will be stopped at 2 minutes

3.) Arrive early enough to check-in, complete your paperwork, and gather your thoughts.

4.) Wear something comfortable that makes you feel confident. Don’t wear a costume.

 

What to expect at PNWF Auditions

>  The audience will consist of approximately 60 people. Our audience consists of participating directors, producers, playwrights, invited talent, and casting agents.

>  You will be introduced and your availability explained to the audience. Announce the name of the play, the playwright and the name of your character for your monologue.

>  Walk-ins will be accepted as time allows. Expect to wait for an opening if you haven’t scheduled an appointment.

>  We try to adhere to our schedule. If there is a delay, please be patient.
